5.1. Methodological overview

The methodology followed in this course is based on active participation, case studies, teamwork etc. that favors the achievement of the learning objectives. A wide range of teaching and learning tasks are implemented, such as lectures, practical activities, group discussion, autonomous work, tutorials, and academic guidance. These teaching and learning activities will be supported by Information and Comunitation Technologies (ICT) where possible.

Further information regarding the course will be provided on the first day of class.

5.2. Learning tasks

The course includes 6 ECTS organized according to:

- Lectures (2  ECTS): 20 hours. The professor presents theoretical contents.

- Class activities (1 ECTS): 10 hours. Lectures will be completed through different activities involving an active role of the student. These activities consist on case study, presentations, group discussions, continuous assessment, etc.

 - Practical activities (1 ECTS): 10 hours. Consist mainly on case study and problem-solving activities.

These onsite activities will be complemented with:

- Group work. The student is required to choose between different topics related to educational psychology and elaborate a literature review, research  project or intervention proposal assignment.

- Autonomous work.

- Tutorials

- Assessment.

Module I- History, concept and methods in Educational Psychology

  • Topic 1- History, concept and aims of Educational Psychology
  • Topic 2- Research methods in Educational Psychology

Module II - Learning

  • Topic 3. Conductist approaches to learning
  • Topic 4. Cognitive models of learning

Module II. Intrapersonal factors in learning

  • Topic 5. Basic psychological processes
  • Topci 6. Higher psychological processes

Module IV. Predisponent factors for learning

  • Topic 7. Motivation and learning
  • Topic 8. Self-concept
